NYX "The it List"

Three out of five not too bad. Lets start with what you want to know first, the bad stuff lol. The two duds in this set are the "soft matte lip cream" in XLC10 Natural and the "Xtream shine lip cream" in SMLC05 Antwerp. The biggest disappointment is the "Soft matte lip cream." It went on smooth and extremely pigmented but dried, literally. Very unpleasant on the lips. My lips immediately felt dry and I needed to apply some type of conditioning on top. Where my lips touch, the product wore off and in parts clumped together. The thing I found most amusing is that there is no transfer with this product, so how is it wearing off on my lips where they touch? It had a pleasant bakeshop type smell, such as a vanilla cake. I'm not going to say it was a total fail, just a winter fail. I would try this again in a season where my lips are more hydrated. In the fall/winter seasons my lips are extremely needy when it comes to lip balm and staying hydrated. This "soft matte lip cream" can be saved by placing a lip gloss on top, but it no longer will be matte.

The strange fail, was the "xtream shine lip cream." This too had a pleasant bakeshop type smell, more along the lines of strawberry shortcake. That was a plus in my book. Now the strange part, it had dark specs that formed in it after it set on my lips. It even showed in the picture I took down below. Even when rubbing my lips together thinking the specs would disappear, nope still there. This was pleasant on the lips, a good nude pink toned color. I just have no clue as to why theses specs are in it. It's not glitter or any type of reflectant, it almost looks like bubbles had formed in it. I adore the color, it's pigmented and wears nicely. This is not too sticky and it's smooth. Ugh, just these specs are irritating. I wonder if the tube I received in this set was just bad, I think I may repurchase this to see if thats the case.

Now to the wins! The two that I have been carrying in my handbag and am in love with, worn together or alone is "Butter Gloss" in BLG05 Creme Brûlée and "Pump it up Lip Plumper" in PIU06 Kim. I like to line my lips with NYX lipliner pencil in 810 Natural. After lined, I like to apply the butter gloss to hydrate then apply the plumper to plump! I love the look of full lips. It's my go to combo ever since I purchased this set. To my surprise the butter gloss has a doe-foot applicator. This too had a pleasant bakeshop type smell, such as a vanilla cake. Went on smooth, a tad bit tacky but hydrating. A sheer neutral color payoff. When topped off with the plumper bam! It's like magic. The tingle from the plumper is not bad but noticeable in the beginning. The tingle reminds me of a cool mint type tingle (if that makes any sense). Sadly the plumper has no smell, this does not make or break it, just a fact. This too went on smooth, a tad bit tacky with a sheer neutral color payoff.

Last but not least "Mega Shine Lip Gloss" in LG155 Perfect. Where to start? This too had a pleasant bakeshop type smell, more along the lines of strawberry shortcake. This lip shine has some power to it, my lips were glossy and reflective from all the glitter/reflectant in it. This gloss is not for everyone, you have to like that extra pow that it brings with it's magic sparkles lol. I like this, but far from loving it. This product is extremely tacky and wind blown hair will get stuck in it. I think that will stop me from wearing this, just not a first choicer. It's extremely see thru and I feel can be worn over any color of lipstick. I would call this my night time going out gloss.

Now as an entirety was "The it List" worth the $19.99 price tag? I'm going to say yes. I was able to try five lip products that I had never tried and all were great wearable colors. I applaud NYX on this grouping of colors in this collection. Not all were a win for me, but I'm okay with that. I still had a great time trying them.
